I blame my nephew for my brick addiction. He’s now 6 and a talented builder. One wet bank holiday weekend a few weeks a go we sat, literally, all day building a Lego forest. Every green brick we had was thrown into this thing, trees of all shapes and sizes were growing out of the studs of the forest floor. A pond was added (with coins in the water and a frog on the side), which of course needed a river to feed it…and a waterfall. And some sharks (?!)
That was just day one (it was a long bank holiday!)
The next day he added a campfire raging out of control. Oh no! It spread to a nearby tree, and there was a cat up it, trapped by the flames. Never fear, Lego city’s brave firefighters were on hand to help put out the fire!
And at last his entry was ready for Lego’s Build Ben a Forest competition.
We uploaded the photo and crossed our fingers, hoping we’d be a daily winner. Despite lots of ‘likes’ we didn’t win one of the prizes they dished out daily. Oh well, we’d still had fun, and that’s the main bit.
But then a couple of weeks later I got an email to say we’d won one of the grand prizes! A weekend at the Lego Discovery Centre in Manchester with Ben Fogle. Now I know my international minifig loving friends might not know who he is, but lets just say he’s rather lovely. Auntie Caz was perhaps more excited than her nephew at this stage! So tomorrow we’re heading off across the Peak District to build a Lego store’s window display with Ben Fogle. Squeeeee!
As I said before *excited*
