As you can probably tell from all the Lego on here, I’m not the most cynical of people. Some people like to moan about the Olympics here in Britain, but not me. I know the BBC has stopped broadcasting everything BUT the Olympics, but I’ve been hooked.
That’s because the Olympics are great. So many incredibly loud-mouthed British people over at Olympic Park yelling their support at the tops of their voices, showing a rare unity. At first Olympic medals were slow in coming, but then it seemed like the floodgates opened and now Team GB are starting to take their baths in tubs filled with bronze, silver and gold medals. They’re not very clean at the end, but when you’re an Olympic champion nobody cares.
All I know is, when the Zombie Apocolypse (TM) comes, I’m getting on a bike or in a rowing boat / canoe. I’m British, and apparently we’re good at that kind of thing. It’s also handy that we can shoot clay pigeons really well – it’s a well documented fact that zombie clay pigeons are in the top five most common causes of death in apololyptic situations. Well, at least Team GB will be okay.
It’s all been very inspiring. At first I thought maybe I’ll take one of these sports up, but I thought it might be quite tiring so I decided to show my appreciation in custom Lego Minifigs instead. I’ve starting making all our Gold medal winners so far, and will keep making them as the games continue…here’s Saturday 4th of August’s winners so far. (Fingers crossed I’m back here soon adding Jessica Ennis)
So without further ado, here are some scary-good athletes:
