But you’ve also been helping change other people’s lives by supporting Tommy’s Charity. A few months ago, following the success of our Last Leg Charity Auction, we pledged to donate a percentage of our Paralympic minifigs sales to Tommy’s. We’ve now raised £250 for Tommy’s just from your love of Lego minifigs. The auction raised £250 also, giving us a total of £500!
We’re thrilled and want to thank you so much for your support of Tommy’s.
Nick and I have had a challenging year and creating Minifigs.Me has certainly been the highlight.
This time last year we were both employed and Lego was just a hobby. Then in April our son Quinn was still born at 22 weeks and our world changed forever. Over the following months, with the support of our amazing family and friends, and Tommy’s, we started to put our lives back together. Then, unexpectedly Minifigs.Me was born on the back of the popularity of our Olympic minifigs. Soon we were working 16 hour days, every day and we were able to leave our grief behind.
My wonderful friend Rachel started Team Little Legs to raise money for Tommy’s in our son’s name. With your help, we’ve now added £500 to her total and in a few weeks she’ll be running the London Marathon for Tommy’s.
The months since the launch of Minifigs.Me has been full of ups and downs. We’ve had even more grief within the family, but we’re still developing the business and hoping that it will pay our wages in the future. Nick is now full time, and my job as a scientist is about to end, so everything will rest on LEGO! But we love it! It’s creative and fun, and interacting with you guys is the best bit, you have such amazing ideas! We’ve made genuine friends from the community of very special Minifigs.me customers.
My wonderful father died earlier this year, after a short fight with cancer. He was cared for the wonderful people at St Luke’s Hospice in his last few days and going forward we plan to do some fundraising for St Luke’s, we hope you’ll continue to support our fundraising in the future.
And now for some good news! We’re pleased to tell you that following more IVF I’m now 24 weeks pregnant. It’s been an emotional and difficult journey so far. We’re receiving excellent care from our doctor and being closely monitored and treated for any complications. Getting through each day feels like an achievement, but having reached this critical point we’re trying to stay optimistic for the future and we hope we’ll have our own mini-me joining us in the summer.
So thank you once again for helping us by supporting our business. When you’re buying that bit of plastic for a friend’s gift, please remember you’re putting a smile on our faces too.
Much Lego Love,
Caroline and Nick
